Customs and police officers at Bab Sebta seized 17.4 kg of cannabis resin, locally known as ‘chira,’ from a light vehicle on Thursday, according to a customs source.

The drugs were concealed in plates inside the fuel tank of a Moroccan-registered vehicle driven by a resident of Morocco. The seizure resulted from a joint control operation between customs officers and the police.

The suspect was transferred to the judicial police for additional investigation, under the guidance of the appropriate public prosecutor’s office.
