Guillermo Söhnlein, co-founder of OceanGate, aims to establish a colony with 1,000 people on Venus by 2050. This follows the tragic incident involving the Titan Sub, which was on a mission to explore the Titanic shipwreck on June 18. The incident resulted in the unfortunate loss of five lives, including Söhnlein’s former associate and close friend, Stockton Rush.
Despite recent setbacks, Söhnlein firmly believes in the unending pursuit of innovation. “I’ve been driven to help make humanity a multi-planet species since I was 11 years old,” he shared. In an interview with Insider, Söhnlein revealed, “I had this recurring dream of being the commander of the first Martian colony.”
Söhnlein envisions the possibility of creating a floating colony in the Venusian atmosphere that could accommodate 1,000 people by 2050. However, the specific methods to achieve this goal are yet to be finalized.
