Ofir Akunis, Israel’s minister of Innovation, science, and technology is on an official visit to Morocco following a visit from his counterpart Abdellatif Miraoui, the Moroccan minister of higher education, scientific research, and innovation.
According to Israeli media i24, the two officials will discuss common areas of future cooperation in many fields including agritech, food tech, water, artificial intelligence, and more.
The Israeli minister is expected to meet several Moroccan ministers on this official visit, as well as scientists and researchers, and heads of the Moroccan Jewish community.
Before his departure, Akunis expressed his happiness and excitement regarding the visit, mentioning that when he occupied the position of Regional Cooperation minister, he had the honor of voting in favor of the peace agreement and the renewal of relations between Isreal and Morocco.
Pledging to advance the peace agreement in many areas for the peace of the children of both nations, the minister declared that he sees great importance in the Abraham Accords.
“These are historical relations that date back hundreds of years, but there is much more to be done together. This is the beginning of a wonderful friendship,” concluded the minister.
Earlier this month in Rabat, speaker of the Israeli Parliament, Amir Ohana, stressed the need to deepen cooperation with Morocco to include vital areas during his historical visit to the kingdom.
He highlighted the pioneering role of King Mohammed VI and the sovereign’s unwavering commitment to achieving peace in the Middle East.
This month was marked with other significant meetings of Moroccan ministers with their Israeli counterparts, such as the meeting of Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s minister of Foreign affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan abroad with the Israeli national security adviser, Tchazi Hangebi.
