The Moroccan national team and the Republic of Cape Verde played to a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening, in a friendly match held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
During the first half of the match, the “Atlas Lions” attempted a variety of attacks, combining deep penetrations, long-range shots, and wing play. On the other hand, the Cape Verde national team relied on defensive strategies and swift counterattacks upon recovering the ball. However, despite these efforts, the half concluded with no goals scored.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, resulting in a goalless draw. These events emphasized the importance of the national coach’s prior statements, urging both players and fans not to underestimate any opponent on the field.
The Moroccan national team is scheduled to travel to South Africa for a match against the national team next Saturday. The game will take place at the in Johannesburg and is part of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations, to be held in Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.
Morocco secured its spot in the Continental Cup finals during the elimination group stage, which comprised only three teams. Under the guidance of former national coach , the team defeated South Africa 2-1 and secured a clean 2-0 victory against Liberia. The upcoming match against Liberia will be held in Morocco in September.
