DabaPhoto07 collective is hosting a collective photography exhibition in the Dada Marrakech cultural center, from June 2 to September 30, 2023.
DabaPhoto is presenting the ‘Coram Te’ exhibit for its seventh edition. The photographic display brings together a number of young photographers and artists for the occasion.
The exhibition “displays works that extend the two dimensional perspective to tell stories through stable and dynamic images, animation, 3D and artistic pieces that extend human vision” according to Dada Marrakech.
The exhibition alters the visual perspective through its creative use of video and digital images.
The 18 Marrakech, a multidisciplinary artistic space for artists, curators, scholars, cultural agents, and local communities and Dada Marrakech collaborated to create Coram Te.
Dada Marrakech is an exhibition and gathering place that highlights the contemporary art scene in Morocco, Africa, and the rest of the world in the center of Marrakech’s Old Medina.
The artwork created by DabaPhoto defies the duality of proportions and dimensionality of conventional photography, demonstrating the power of images and their ability to express stories that go beyond the limits of traditional proportions.
Coram Te showcases Moroccan visual artists and photographers who have assembled a series of images displaying them looking at each other, crossing paths, and glaring at each other to tell a story of life or family, concealed nostalgia, a projection into the future or into a group imagination, and reassembled spaces and identities.
Image makers aim to push limits and rigid representations by going beyond still images and including movement into their works. The visual display reexamines the present as well as potential futures and even futurism.
The artists featured in this edition are Louisa Ben, Meriem Bennani, Ines Bouallou, Karim El Maktafi, Muhcine Ennou, Rida Tabit, Ali El Madani aka Rwinalife, Jinane Ennasri, Hind Moumou, Ismail Zaidi, and Fatima Zohra Serri.
Laila Hida and Anbar El Mokri selected and presented the collection of artworks and photographs that are featured at the event.
Laila Hida, the Morrocan based artist established the 18 Marrakech in 2013, a venue that addresses problems such as the contribution of the arts to the development of sociocultural ecosystems or the effects of international tourism on the environment and perceptions.
Anbar El Mokri founded El Mokri Studio, a multidisciplinary abstract art studio in Morocco.
The event will go on for three months and contains the exhibition, as well as projections and meetings between the artists and the public to foster productive dialogue.
