The 28th edition of the International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL), to be held on June 1-11 2023 at the OLM Souissi space in Rabat, will see the participation of 737 exhibitors from 51 countries, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication announced Friday.
“This edition will bring together 737 exhibitors, including 287 direct exhibitors and 450 indirect exhibitors, from 51 countries. They will present to the public a wide selection of more than 120,000 titles, offering a wide variety of content with multidisciplinary cultural and epistemological dimensions. Visitors to the show will have an appointment with a real library in the open air,” said the ministry in a statement issued after a press briefing presenting this edition.
Placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this edition initiated in partnership with the Wilaya of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region and the Council of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, will host as a special guest, Quebec (Canada), in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Canada, which are experiencing a remarkable dynamic at all levels, reinforced by the presence of an active Moroccan diaspora in the various provinces of this friendly country, according to the same source.
In addition, this edition will be distinguished by the participation of 661 writers, intellectuals and poets from Morocco and abroad, in 221 meetings, including thematic seminars and retrospective moments of thought and creativity of some cultural personalities with distinguished intellectual and creative career, in addition to direct meetings between creators and their public.
Children and youth remain at the heart of the SIEL’s cultural programming with the menu of scientific and artistic workshops strengthening the relationship of the child with learning and books. In addition, professional meetings are planned to address the many issues and challenges specific to the book industry and the promotion of reading, thus confirming the SIEL’s position as a platform for exchange on the international scene.
