Neo Motors’ first car model and NamX’s hydrogen vehicle prototype constitute two projects that promote the Made-in-Morocco label in the automotive industry, said economist and public policy specialist Abdelghani Youmni.

These two innovative projects, presented on Monday to HM King Mohammed VI, confirm the transition of the Kingdom from a landing platform of the relocated industry, to a space of local technological and innovative industry, Youmni told MAP.

The vision of HM King Mohammed VI has allowed Morocco to transform itself, to direct public spending towards building infrastructure and structural reforms to embark on the challenge of industrialization, development and long-term growth, he argued, adding that these two initiatives also enshrine the Royal Vision on sustainable development and renewable energy.

Thus, NamX prototype is a consecration of green hydrogen usage, noted the economist, adding that this car will have a range of eight hundred kilometers for a rate of charge of only four minutes.

This is an industry that is based primarily on solar, wind, ammonia and hydrogen and Morocco is in pole position in the production of these inputs of clean energy tomorrow, he further explained.

According to Youmni, green hydrogen, being part of the Power-to-X method, will not only release clean energy, but it can transform Morocco into a development field of global and local value chains and a comparative advantage beyond competition in the optimization of production costs and decarbonization.

These successes, which are superimposed and aggregated, are confirmation of the renaissance that Morocco is experiencing and which is the result of its resilience and its determination to put technological and sustainable development at the center of its breakthrough strategies that glorify the spirit of the collective and openness, he concluded.

Owned by Moroccan capital, Neo Motors has set up an industrial unit in Ain Aouda (Rabat-Salé-Kenitra Region), for the manufacture of motor vehicles for the local market and export, with an annual capacity of 27,000 units and a local integration rate of 65%.

The total projected investment of this project amounts to 156 million dirhams and will eventually create 580 jobs.

As for the prototype of the hydrogen vehicle of NamX, which is named HUV (Hydrogen Utility Vehicle), it has been designed in collaboration with the Italian design office and coachbuilder of reference Pininfarina. The interior design of the vehicle was done by Moroccan talents.

This model will be supplied with hydrogen by a central tank that will be completed by six removable capsules, guaranteeing a significant autonomy and facilitating the hydrogen recharge in a few minutes.
