Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan Nahoum is currently in Morocco on a 3-day visit which will end on May 16, to launch the FemForward MENA program, a mentorship program designated to aid women working in junior positions in tech.
The program, which so far has 4 cohorts with over 100 graduates and a success rate of over 50% of the women immediately receiving a salary raise and job promotions, is now launching its MENA cohort in Casablanca, said Jewish News Syndicate.
The three-month project will address the barriers to promotion that women encounter as they move from entry-level to managerial jobs.
After the opening conference that took place yesterday, the mentoring program will continue with weekly online seminars led by women in senior positions.
The program’s virtual phase will give participants the chance to hone their management and negotiation abilities while forging enduring relationships with their mentors and other participants.
The same source stated that several prominent organizations and companies in Morocco are joining in the effort of the FemForward program, including the Commons Zerktouni coworking space, Microsoft Morocco, McKinsey& Company, and the Association of Businesswomen of Morocco (AFEM).
In the same context, 100 female business leaders from around the globe assembled in Morocco last week for the “Women Connect to Innovate” conference with the goal of forming business alliances and exploring the role of innovation in empowering women to create wealth in the region.
Start-Up Nation Central, a nonprofit that supports Israeli innovation worldwide to help address global concerns, and Morocco’s Consensus Public Relations jointly hosted the conference.
