In a recent statement titled “Sexual exploitation and Sex trafficking” and published on their official Facebook page, child protection NGO “Matkissh Weldi” called for maximum penalties, with total disregard for mitigating circumstances appeals, to be imposed against the former ambassador involved in sexual exploitation, trafficking, and prostitution of underage girls.

The former ambassador has been prosecuted and arrested by order of the investigating judge in the court of appeal in Rabat for the crimes of “Human trafficking and sexual exploitation of underage girls.”

The Organisation affirmed having followed the case and took a firm stand against what was described as “unethical, shameful, and despicable” behavior, unfitting of his status as a Moroccan diplomat and former ambassador whose duty lies in representing our country as best as possible.

“Matkissh Weldi” condemns his acts of grooming and incitement of minors, pulling them into prostitution pitfalls, and taking questionable photographs, and called for a thorough investigation of said photos and tracing back possible accomplices.

According to a trusted Hespress source, the organization is preparing to establish a civil party to defend the underage victims of this case which had garnered nation-wide attention.

“The law is above us all,” and “this isn’t about settling accounts or taking sensitive posts into consideration; This is about his unethical practices as a person and as a Moroccan citizen, which makes him nothing more than a pedophile,” Najat Anwar, the Organisation’s Chairwoman said in a statement to Hespress.

The activist defended childhood rights in Morocco, calling for the law’s exemplary and punitive role to deal the hand of justice in this case.

“We always demanded that penalties and sanctions be harsh for sexual assault of any kind on children, as on the recent trial of the rapists of a Tifelt child, and we are still demanding for 20 years in prison as a minimum sentence in criminal law for sexual assaults on children, and imposing it on everyone, without exceptions, for the law is above us all.”

“The call for tightening criminal provisions is because of the heinous and horrible exploitations and incitement of underage students into prostitution . How could we ever hope to convince them that a bright professional career awaits them when they earned sums reaching 500dh an hour?”

Anwar renewed their call to “carry out the harshest of sentences on whoever dared to taint and exploit our children and minors, so that they could be an example for every rapist hidden in plain sight.”
