Princess Lalla Meryem arrived Thursday in London to represent King Mohammed VI in King Charles III’s coronation ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, MAP reported.

Upon her arrival at Farnborough Airport, Princess Lalla Maryam was greeted by a special representative of the British Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Kingdom’s ambassador to London.

Charles, 74, will be crowned in Westminster Abbey, London, on Saturday, in a grand ceremony during which he will wear or hand over a special ceremonial outfit decorated with religious and historical symbols.

About 5,000 members of the British armed forces are taking part in the coronation of King Charles III, and they are joined by soldiers from more than 30 Commonwealth countries to form one of the largest military celebrations in decades.

Gun salutes will resound throughout the country to mark the moment of the king’s coronation, before more than 60 Spitfires dating back to World War II and modern combat aircraft are later flown by military personnel.
