The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication will hold the first African poetry festival in Rabat from May 5 to 7, 2023.
The Festival of African Poetry honors the cultural capital of Morocco and the experiences of African poets through the most significant symbols, sounds, languages, visions, and sensitivity of African poetry.
The festival offers workshops for students in poetry writing and recitation, music, and intellectual conferences.
The occasion will commemorate several African poets and name the recipient of the current Léopold Sédar Senghor Award winner.
The House of Poetry in Morocco published a representation of contemporary African poetry in Al Bayt magazine, in conjunction with the festival, using the most influential poets to establish the modernity of African poetry and its succeeding generations to establish the power of presence for themselves and their languages.
