Sales of thE automotive sector reached nearly MAD 33.92 billion in Morocco at the end of March 2023, up 44.8% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Office of Foreign Exchange.
This development follows the increase in sales of all segments of the sector, namely, the construction segment (45.2%), that of wiring (47.3%) and that of the interior vehicles and seats (32.8%), said the Office, which has just published its monthly indicators of foreign trade.
In parallel, exports of textiles and leather have increased by 16.6%, or 1.72 in the first three months of the year 2023.
This development is explained, mainly, by the increase in exports of clothing (20.3%), hosiery (9.7%) and to a lesser extent shoes (15.1%).
For their part, sales of the agriculture and agribusiness sector amounted to MAD 25.21 billion at the end of March 2023 against MAD 25.18 billion in the first quarter of the year 2022.
This development is attributable to the increase in exports of the food industry of 6.4%, mitigated by the decline in exports of agriculture, forestry and hunting of 6.2%.
As regards exports of phosphates and derivatives, they stood at MAD 18.32 billion at the end of March 2023, against MAD 24.52 billion at the end of March 2022.
This evolution is explained by the decline in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (-22.9%), those of phosphoric acid (-30.8%) and those of phosphates (-29.1%).
