The Moroccan artist Taha Tifraoui, also known as Plylist, had his application for a visa to Holland denied.

Plylist revealed on his social media on Thursday that he too was a victim of the ongoing rejection of European visas to Moroccan citizens.

The Moroccan artist said that he had applied for a visa to Holland for work two months prior. The artist continues by expressing his shock and surprise at the decision to deny him a visa even though all the necessary paperwork had been submitted.

“It’s interesting to me that they question my intentions of returning to Morocco,” the artist said of the visa denial, which he claims had no basis.

Plylist emphasized that he was aware of similar incidents involving other artists who were also rejected for unspecified causes.

The fact that Moroccan artists are not recognized enough and that their work is “not taken seriously abroad is a major problem’’, according to the artist. “By rejecting our visa applications, the individuals managing our visa cases degrade us.’’

Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that his ministry “is closely following the policies and practices of countries in the field of visas” in response to a string of similar incidents that have recently drawn attention to Moroccans’ visa denials.

The ministry has put a lot of effort into improving the quality and quantity of services linked to entry visas to the Kingdom’s territory in recent years.

According to Bourita, “the ministry is urging foreign authorities to increase the number of visas granted to Moroccans of all categories, as well as to reduce the complexities of procedures, especially those related to taking appointments.”

The Minister reaffirmed that “the Moroccan passport is subject to the visa regime of 165 countries in the world,” and that “our country imposes a visa on 118 countries from different regions of the world.”

Bourita listed the steps for enhancing the performance of the relevant departments in this regard, including those at the level of the Moroccan consular posts overseas, as well as through the “E-Visa” system.
