Hong Kong residents hold first protests in 3 years, despite government restrictions
Monday 27 March 2023 - 19:37

Hong Kong residents held their first officially sanctioned protest in three years against a plan for land reclamation on Sunday.

This was Hong Kong’s first protest after three years of COVID-19 limitations and anti-protest measures.

The protest organizers placed restrictions on the protestors, including mandating that they wear numbered tags and follow a route that was marked off by police tape.

The protest was against a land reclamation proposal that would have allowed garbage-processing plants to be built in  residential areas.
