The most awarded Emmy series, “Succession”, will come to an end after an upcoming fourth season, announced its writer and creator Jesse Armstrong, shocking the Roy family fans who did not see this coming.
The fans speculated that the show wants to avoid fillers, which is why the creator is pulling the plug after four great seasons of Roy family drama.
In an interview with the “New Yorker,” Armstrong confirmed that the fourth season, which begins on March 26, will be the show’s last.
“I got together with a few of my fellow writers before we started the writing of season four, in about November, December 2021, and I sort of said, ‘Look, I think this maybe should be it. But what do you think?’ And we played out various scenarios: We could do a couple of short seasons or two more seasons,” said the creator.
He explained telling them “Or we could go on for ages and turn the show into something rather different, and be a more rangy, freewheeling kind of fun show, where there would be good weeks and bad weeks. Or we could do something a bit more muscular and complete, and go out sort of strong. And that was definitely always my preference.”
Succession received the best drama series Emmy last September, along with other prizes for Jeremy Armstrong’s best writing, Matthew Macfayden’s great interpretation of Tom made him the best supporting actor in a drama series, and Avy Kaufman and Francine Maisler’s won for their excellent casting for a drama series.
