The International Exhibition of Agriculture in Morocco (SIAM) will return to Meknes after stopping for a three years hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At a press briefing to introduce the 15th edition of SIAM, which will be held from May 2 to May 7 in Meknes under the theme “Generation Green: For a Sustainable Food Sovereignty,” the announcement was made by Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forestry.
The Minister emphasized that the grand event’s return, after being absent forcibly for three years due to the pandemic, will provide an opportunity to present developments in the sector in Morocco, including those related to research and development and technology, as well as the strategy “Generation Green 2020-2030.”
He continued by saying that this gathering, which brings together stakeholders and industry experts, has grown to be one of the biggest gatherings for agriculture in the world.
The event is expected to draw 900,000 people, 1,400 exhibitors, and 65 participating nations, according to Sadiki.
He also noted that the theme chosen for this edition focuses on food security, a key component of the strategy “Generation Green,” according to Born2Invest media.
In this regard, the Minister has emphasized that this strategy’s goal is to build on the successes of the Green Morocco Plan by adopting a new vision for the agricultural sector, establishing new governance, and putting into practice cutting-edge tools to support the agricultural sector.
Jawad Chami, the event’s commissioner, stated that the SIAM is a genuine hub for discussions and business-to-business encounters, a premier exhibition venue, and a business accelerator. He said that it is now positioned as the first exhibition in Africa and among the best in the industry globally, as read on Born2Invest media.
During the five days of the show, exhibitors will have the chance to refine their products and promote their activities, Chami said, noting that the show is also a suitable space to highlight the innovations of each sector, as well as an opportunity for the public and the sectoral ecosystem to discover all the advances in the various areas comprising the agricultural value chain.
