The Belgian company SABCA (Société anonyme belge de constructions aéronautiques) has inaugurated, Wednesday in the province of Nouaceur, its new aerostructures assembly plant and presented, on the same occasion, the first delivery of the first PC-12 aircraft made for its customer Pilatus.
Requiring an investment of more than 180 million dirhams, this plant of 16,000 m², which was inaugurated during a ceremony held in the presence of Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Taoufiq Moucharraf, the Board of Directors of the Orizio Group, the management of SABCA and representatives of Pilatus, employs 240 people.
Speaking on this occasion, Moucharraf welcomed the interest shown by the Belgian group in the Moroccan aerospace sector, noting that this facility marks a new era for the Moroccan aerospace industry with the launch of a pioneering activity in Morocco, which consists of the design, manufacture and assembly of almost complete structure of an aircraft.
“This achievement illustrates the quality and competitiveness of our aeronautical base and the confidence it enjoys among global players,” he added, expressing his gratitude to Moroccan skills without which the transfer of this technology would not have been possible.
The Moroccan aeronautical platform, built thanks to the leadership and vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is gaining in attractiveness and positioning itself on new niches, Moucharraf said.
For Stephane Burton, CEO of Orizio, the parent company of SABCA, the Kingdom of Morocco has established a policy promoting the development of the aerospace ecosystem on its soil, stressing that the Orizio group is part of this long-term policy and has made the Kingdom of Morocco one of the main sites of its industrial activities.
CEO of SABCA, Thibauld Jongen, for his part, welcomed this new structure that offers a wide range of expertise in the design of metal and composite aerostructures, in manufacturing and assembly, in the design of actuation equipment for the general aviation sector.
