The US Special Envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, Deborah Lipstadt is expected to visit Morocco in the upcoming days.
The US State Department announced that Lipstadt will travel to South Africa and Morocco from November 6 to 18, informing that during her visit she will meet with local Jewish communities, government officials, and civil society representatives about actions that can be taken.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Minister will discuss strategies and opportunities for work with stakeholders to confront anti-Semitism, as well as anti-Muslim hatred, racism, and other forms of intolerance and discrimination.
The visit comes two years after the signing of the trilateral Abraham agreement, involving Morocco, Israel, and the US.
Lipstadt was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 30, 2022, as the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, with the rank of Ambassador, said the US Department of state’s website.
“As Special Envoy, she leads efforts to advance U.S. foreign policy to counter antisemitism throughout the world,” according to the same source.
