Morocco has the ambition to become an African leader in the development of e-sports, said, Thursday in Rabat, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s news channel, on the sidelines of the Morocco E-Sport Summit, Bensaid said that “this first meeting on gaming is very important, given the Kingdom’s desire to develop this thriving industry globally.”

“Young Moroccans are the first consumers of e-sports at the continental level and it is time to move into the production and development of content in the gaming arena,” the minister noted.

The first Morocco E-Sport Summit, organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, brought together Moroccan decision-makers, investors and e-gaming developers to discuss opportunities and ways to boost this discipline in the Kingdom.
