Moroccan athlete Soufiane El Bakkali won Thursday the 3,000 m steeplechase event in Zurich, Switzerland, part of the Diamond League.
El Bakkali’s win was timed at 8:07.67.
The Olympic and world champion beat Ethiopian Getnet Wale (8:08.56) and Kenyan Abraham Kibiwot (8:08.61).
The gold medalist at the Olympics-2020 in Tokyo won on August 26 the 3,000 m steeplechase event at the Lausane meeting (Switzerland), also part of the Diamond League.
El Bakkali has had a successful season, which was marked by his world title in July in Eugene (USA) and his victory in June at the Mohammed VI International Meeting in Rabat, with the best world performance of the season (7:58.28).
