The Israeli Foreign Ministry recalled on Tuesday the Head of its Liaison office to Morocco David Govrin, as it “continues to investigate recent sexual harassment allegations.“
The Ministry is looking into the many “irregularities at the Liaison Office in Rabat,” which were brought up earlier this week, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Allegations of sexual harassment, exploiting local women, not reporting gifts and severe workplace disputes involving Govrin have been made, which the Israeli ministry is now investigating, according to a ministerial spokesperson.
One of the incidents under investigation is the disappearance of a gift from the Moroccan royal family in honor of Israel’s Independence Day, which was not properly reported to the Foreign Ministry, says the Jerusalem Post.
The ministry is additionally investigating a conflict within the embassy between the head of the mission and the security officer, responsible for the security and proper operation of the Israeli mission.
The Foreign Ministry is also investigating “the involvement of a businessman and friend of Govrin in arranging meetings between Israeli politicians, such as Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked and Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar.”
The man was allegedly present in the ministers’ meetings, despite not holding any official position in Israel.
