The political bureau of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) has welcomed the “advanced orientations” contained in the speech addressed by King Mohammed VI to the Nation on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of Throne Day.

“The remarkable speech of the King, like all the royal speeches on the occasion of this symbolic national commemoration, has stressed the imperative to promote the status of Moroccan women by allowing them to fully enjoy their rights, while enshrining gender equality through the operationalization of mechanisms and institutions concerned, said the political bureau of the PPS in a statement.

The royal speech also called for rectifying the gaps and deficiencies that hinder the proper implementation of the Family Code, based on an open dialogue in the context of an advanced interpretation of the designs of Islamic law, noted the same source.

In this context, the party expressed its “strong support for this important project, given the place of equality in the societal project of the PPS, in the hope that it can breathe new life into the democratic fields, rights, and politics in general.

The political bureau also praised the emphasis placed by the royal speech on the need to strengthen the protection of the weak categories, “given what they endure because of rising prices and deteriorating purchasing power.
