More than 6,000 cases of monkeypox have now been reported from 58 countries in the current outbreak, the World Health Organization announced on Wednesday.
“On monkeypox, I continue to be concerned by the scale and spread of the virus. Across the world, there have now been more than 6,000 cases recorded in 58 countries . Testing remains a challenge and it is highly probable that there are a significant number of cases not being picked up,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual press conference from Geneva.
Monkeypox is a virus transmitted to humans from animals, with symptoms including fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes.
