Morocco’s government announced on Thursday the extension of the state of health emergency for an additional month.
The state of emergency will last from June 30 to July 31 until further notice, as part of efforts to contain the spread of the virus nationwide.
The state of emergency is applicable across the country in line with the Interior Ministry order.
This move comes as the country began recording a new high in COVID-19 infections.
COVID-19 cases rose by more than 1,600 over the last 3 weeks, 16% of its previous peak, according to Reuters’ latest COVID tracker released Thursday.
