The US Army jazz band will participate in the African Lion 2022 academic training, which launched on June 6 and runs until the end of the month.
Free Groove will meet jazz fans from June 17 for open-air concerts, with the kick-off of the tour in Casablanca, Kenitra on June 19, and then in Rabat on June 21.
The band will also perform in Tangier on June 23, in Agadir on June 26, and Taroudant on June 28.
All these concerts are free of charge, set to kickstart at 7 p.m, aiming to entertain and inspire.
The band is composed of talented soldiers from all over the world, said the US Embassy in Morocco on its website.
Free Groove’s musicians were selected for their improvisation and jazz arranging abilities. This group of highly-skilled Soldier-Musicians performs music from a wide range of jazz styles including straight-ahead, bebop, cool-jazz, and Latin, added the same source.
The US Embassy in Morocco further stated that beyond entertaining US Troops, Free Groove regularly performs in front of top US Army leadership and their diplomatic guests.
With their trademark sound and style, Free Groove truly embodies the greater U.S. Army Music programs’ mission: “To provide music throughout the spectrum of military operations to instill in our soldiers the will to fight and win, foster the support of our citizens, and promote our national interests at home and abroad,”according to the same source.
Open-air concert ? this idea sounds super great -but with US army band playing this could attract high number of vistors and even a very low probability of unwanted elements.
How to screen all visitors and avoid security breaches (wouldn’t it be better to pre-print invitations ?)
