The academic training part of the African Lion 2022 military exercise is set to take place starting this Monday.

The training will be held at the headquarters of the Moroccan Southern Region High Command, with Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, and Ghana as participant countries in the military exercise.

Spain recently said that it will not take part in this year’s edition of the African Lion military.

This year’s training will include joint operational planning method, legal aspects, public information, medical planning, cybersecurity, and evaluation techniques of a joint exercise, said the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces in the press release.

The exercise will be conducted from June 20 to July 1 in the regions of Kenitra, Agadir, Tan Tan, Taroudant, and Mahbes, the same source concluded.

Colonel Teremuura Shamel, head of the Office of Security Cooperation at the US Embassy in Morocco, said that “African Lion is the first multinational joint training in the AFRICOM area of responsibility; It demonstrates our long-standing commitment to Morocco and all of Africa in recognition of the continent’s strategic importance to the United States.”

Back in September, the Royal Armed Forces and the US Army concluded a six-year joint program to reduce chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, with a budget of $16 million, in partnership with the US Defense Agency.
