Moroccan Amazigh group Meteor Airlines released on Saturday, April 23, their second single of 2022 titled “Awdyan”, which means nobody, in English.
“The clip has comfortably positioned itself in the Kingdom’s musical trends since its release, in several streaming platforms, including Youtube,” reads a press release issued by the group.
“Awdyan” song’s rhythm is inspired by the Gnaouas, the lyrics are taken from the poetic heritage of the Middle Atlas, and the dialect is from Saghrou with some touches in Soussi.
The song is the group’s result of 15 years of a musical and artistic career that has only pushed their musical production upwards, paying tribute to the “Moroccan Rock Metal.”
The group has decided to continue their work and carry out this project despite the distances that separate its members.
“It was a long and more or less painful process, and there were a lot of very difficult moments during the intermittent recording sessions,” added the press release.
Ahmed Ennassiri, the group’s vocalist said, “it’s true that the group scattered all over the world, but it’s the music that brings our minds together wherever we are.”
“Sharing this kind of values of unity and belonging is one of the founding pillars of the work we do. We are united and no one has the power to separate us, or as we say in Amazigh, Awdyan,” he added.
