The Moroccan National Fund of Social Security Organizations (CNOPS) “informs pharmacists admitted in third-party payment mode that prior medical control will resume, as of May 2, 2022, on the 119 expensive pharmaceutical drugs covered by the insurance.”
In a press release received shared by MAP this April 20, CNOPS announces that pharmacists must now only dispense the 119 expensive drugs covered by the prior authorization of CNOPS issued to the interested parties.
Similarly, the CNOPS restores the prior agreement on expensive drugs not on the list of 119 drugs supported directly starting the same date, as it stresses that “the insured must seek prior approval from the CNOPS or other related insurance bodies before acquiring these drugs.”
“CNOPS has taken, as soon as the proclamation of the health exception of COVID-19 in March 2020, an exceptional measure of suspension of prior medical control and direct billing of expensive drugs,” recalls the statement, noting that this measure has helped to protect insured individuals, avoid the spread of the pandemic, ensure the continuity of benefits and access of insured persons to expensive drugs.
