The Moroccan government majority has assured that despite the difficult circumstances, recent rains and strong political action are alleviating the full effects of the difficult international context for Morocco.
Under the chairmanship of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, head of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), and in the presence of Abdellatif Ouahbi, Secretary-General of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Nizar Baraka, Secretary-General of the Independence Party (IP), and the heads of the majority groups in both houses of Parliament, the Governmental Majority held its monthly meeting this Friday.
The Presidency of the Majority Council stated that “the meeting was devoted to assessing the stages of implementing the government program, studying some national issues, preparing for the second parliamentary legislative session of the legislative year, and developments in the national political arena.”
The statement added that “the deep and responsible discussion of all these issues, took the external and internal constraints facing the government into account, as well as the various economic and social pressures that Morocco is facing.”
Aziz Akhannouch said that price hikes concerns all countries across the world, especially after the pressure caused by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, but assured that Morocco “is safe and has all the basic materials it needs.”
Akhannouch added that Morocco had been going through a difficult year so far, but that “recent rains eased the crisis,” appreciating the fact that prices did not escalate during the first days of Ramadan, and the abundance of various basic goods across national markets.
The Head of the Executive indicated that “the upcoming spring will be an opportunity to further consolidate the social state through the continuation of many projects.”
“Morocco has the abilities and capacities to overcome the crisis, the government will continue to communicate with the press to provide citizens with the correct information,” said the head of government in a speech subsequent to the majority meeting.
Faced with complaints and criticism for the spike in prices, Akhannouch stated that “the government does not have a magic wand to solve the problems of all sectors, but it has intervened to solve many crises.”
