Ukrainin ambassador awaits Kyiv's decision on withdrawal from position

Ukrainian ambassador to Morocco, Oksana Vasilivia, is still performing her duties at the embassy headquarters in the capital, Rabat, a well-informed source told Hespresss.

The same source revealed that the recent contact between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and his Moroccan counterpart had put Ukrainian diplomatic representation in a state of “waiting” for central Ministry of Foreign Affairs decisions in Kyiv. ”

The source also revealed that information reaching the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated the negligence of diplomats in handling the crisis and armed conflict with Russia; the Moroccan government refused to take “radical” positions against Russia and prevented volunteers from sending to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian ambassador was summoned from Morocco for a “lack of results in defending the state’s interests.”

According to sources, the phone call between the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Ukrainian counterpart, initiated by the latter, addressed the sudden withdrawal of the Kyiv ambassador from Morocco.

The same sources did not rule out that this phone call was a prelude to the decision of Ukraine to withdraw its ambassador from Rabat, especially since the Ukrainian Foreign Minister confirmed today on his official Twitter account the aspiration of his country to strengthen relations with Morocco.
