The telephone conversation between King Mohammed VI and the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, has defined new prospects for bilateral relations, said journalist Abdelhamid Jmahri.
This conversation, which was followed by a statement issued by the Royal Office, made it possible to define the approach, the practical stages, and the prospects for bilateral relations as well as a roadmap for the new stage, the journalist pointed out in an op-ed published this weekend by Arab-speaking newspaper “Al Ittihad Al Ichtiraki”.

The statement of the Royal Office from the Royal Cabinet shaped the roadmap for the next stage which will open a new unprecedented phase in harmony with the new strategic agreement between the two countries, he underlined, noting that the planned visit of the President of the Spanish government to Morocco is the result of the Spanish position which clearly supports the Moroccan autonomy initiative.

This visit, he said, will officially put an end to the diplomatic crisis which has marred the trust between the two countries and will constitute a new start for bilateral relations based on new foundations.

According to Jmahri, this visit is necessary to establish solid relations with Morocco, Spain’s main trading partner and strategic ally in security issues, the fight against illegal immigration, and against terrorism.

Morocco expects this visit to be the start of an unprecedented relationship based on trust, transparency, and mutual respect, he said, adding that it will also broaden the cooperation agenda and further strengthen bilateral relations.
