Casablanca has been granted 100 hectares of land to build its new “Al Ihsane” cemetery in Ataadod commune, Ahmed Brija, chairman of the equipment and services commission at the Casablanca City Council, explained in an interview with local media.
During the ordinary session of the council, on February 18, the official stated: “The Al Ghofrane and Errahma cemeteries were created in the 80s and they were regulated by the old law of the communes. Today, there is a new town called “Taaadod” and in which the Al Ihssane cemetery will be built.”
Ahmed Brija says the Al Ghofrane cemetery, already at saturation point, can withstand a year of burials if 40 burials are conducted daily, the same source reports.
A legal framework will be set up for the management of the Al Ihssane cemetery, the chairman explained.
Casablanca‘s city council contributes MAD 10 million every year to fund equipment, buildings, fencing, and other features of the cemetery.
