Morocco reopened air borders on February 7, however, international flights and passengers are subjected to strict measures in the airports upon accessing the country.
An official source from within Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca told Hespress “the country is preparing to receive 98 international flights,” noting that this particular airport will receive 53 international flights upon arrival.
Morocco’s airports are equipped and ready to receive international flights, as national and regional airlines, as well as international airlines, are in charge of transporting passengers to Morocco, the same source added.
According to another source from the National Airports Office, “Mohammed V Airport receives 48% of air traffic in the country,” noting that the country’s airports will apply strict security and control measures.
The National Airports Office has allocated an equipped space inside the airports with medical and health staff to conduct COVID-19 rapid tests for better monitoring, an official source told Hespress in a statement.
The country has set up strict precautionary measures to access the territory, including a vaccine pass, and a negative PCR test carried out less than 48 hours before departure.
Passengers are also required to take another rapid test, as well as another PCR test upon arrival at the country’s airports.
Tourists can also be subjected to other laboratory tests in hotels that accommodate them 48 hours after their arrival, the government said in a statement.
After two months of Morocco’s closure of borders due to the emergence of the Omicron variant, the government decided on January 27 to reopen air borders starting February 7, following the national scientific committee’s recommendation to reopen the country’s air borders “as soon as possible.”
