Moroccan universities have yet to decide on switching to a remote exam system this semester, as professors are worried over the confusion, with only weeks prior to exams.
Up to this date, no university has reached a decision on the final mode of exams, following the suggestion of the Ministry of Higher Education, issued this Thursday.
Some universities are reportedly holding internal meetings in order to discuss the possibility, following the detection of domestic Omicron cases within educational establishments.
Hassan II University of Mohammedia is “very likely” to announce remote exams after it had already started holding virtual classes this month.
Although some universities announced that they would not organize in-person exams, they held council meetings after the ministry’s note, and have left the choice to the professors.
Despite the various technical challenges facing some students when the remote option is generalized, such a measure will help keep the sanitary situation stable, to avoid the government having to impose stricter measures.
