Two shots of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine are not enough, as their antibodies decrease against the Omicron variant, according to a British scientists’ study results published this Monday.
This study results showed that Omicron infects both those vaccinated and those previously infected.
The results come a day after the UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned that two shots won’t be enough to prevent Omicron, following findings from the UK health agency on Friday, saying boosters shots significantly restore protection by more than 70%.
As for the University of Oxford’s researchers, the first results from a study yet to be peer-reviewed has shown that there was no evidence that the decrease in the two shots’ antibodies could lead to a higher risk of severe disease, hospitalization, or death in those who have already received their two shots.
The study was based on analysis of blood samples from participants who have received two shots of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine, including AstraZeneca and Pfizer-BioNTech.
