Spanish authorities arrested, on Tuesday night, 4 of the 13 people who successfully escaped the Casablanca-Istanbul flight that landed at Palma airport due to an alleged medical emergency on November 5.

The arrest took place in the Mallorcan town Sa Pobla, in a joint operation deployed by Civil guards and Spanish police.

The detainees will be presented to the court on Wednesday morning.

Authorities in Spain are investigating if the four arrested have received any outside help during the 11 days that they spent in Mallorca since their escape in the airport, reported the Spanish newspaper, El Pais.

Spanish authorities have already arrested 12 passengers who were involved in organizing the escape from the Air Arabia airplane, in Palma de Mallorca airport, after one of the passengers allegedly faked a diabetic coma and force-landed the airplane.

Spanish Police suspects that “Mallorca’s escape” was planned on a Moroccan Facebook group called Brooklyn, as Brooklyn’s member posted in July a detailed escape plan similar to what happened in Mallorca on Friday, November 5.

According to Spanish security sources, “the mastermind of the mass escape is a young man in his twenties with a criminal record, who last year attacked four policemen in Malaga.”

Yassine.C, the mastermind of Mallorca’s escape, was the one who faked the health emergency to ease his friends’ escape. Authorities arrested the 24 years old man on November 5 after leaving the hospital, as the doctor stressed that he has no illness.

Moroccan authorities handed their Spanish counterparts on November 12 the photographs of the Mallorca’s case suspects, where 24 young Moroccan men are involved.

The Spanish Public Prosecution is requesting charging “the fugitives of Mallorca” of human trafficking, regulation of illegal immigration, rebellion, and chaos, as well as costing the Spanish airport big losses due to closing the airport after their escape.

The police continue to haunt the 9 passengers of the plane who are still in the run. At least two of them boarded a ferry to Barcelona on 6 November, according to El Pais
