13 Asian migrants arrived at the Galapagos beach in Melilla this Sunday, November 14, as reported by the local newspaper “El Faro de Melilla,” citing sources from the Government Delegation.

According to the news website, the Center for Temporary Stay of Immigrants (CETI) confirmed the migrants are of Yemeni origin, 12 of which are males.

The boat arrived at shore around 4 pm, as locals noticed the presence of the boat and called the Police and the Civil Guard.

Subsequently, the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard began to tow the boat from the beach of the Alcazaba to El Puerto Noray around 5 pm to investigate.

The skiff is the third boat arriving in Melilla this year and carries the largest number of irregular migrants by boat recorded in 2021.

Since the start of 2021, the Spanish Ministry of Interior recorded a 46.7% decrease in irregular migration through the sea.
