Following the suspension of flights between Russia and Morocco, “inaccuracies regarding the bilateral cooperation” between the two countries have been “widely promoted”, expressed the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Following a publication by Algerian newspaper “Al-Shorouk” in which it claimed that “Algeria was the cause of the crisis between Russia and Morocco”, the Russian Foreign Ministry published an update on its official website noting that the Algerian article is “a lie and misleading of public opinion.”
“The author of the article proceeded from a set of events and data, such as the suspension of flights between Russia and Morocco by a decision from Rabat, the summoning of the Russian ambassador, and the postponement of the sixth session of the Russian-Arab Forum for Cooperation at the Level of Foreign Ministers, which was supposed to be held on October 28 in Marrakesh,” explained the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to the ministry, the author of the article used these aforementioned facts to conclude, that “Russian-Moroccan relations have reached a dead end and that they are going through a crisis.”
“The author of this analysis lives in a parallel world and is unaware of the dangers of the Covid-19 epidemic, which has spread in our world since 2020. For this reason, Moroccan authorities took a decision to suspend flights due to the deteriorating health and epidemiological situation in Russia,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added, stressing that “there is no political influence here.”
The Russian ministry also notes a meeting held by Mel Bogdanov, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister and Moroccan Ambassador Lotfi Bouchaara, in which the Russian official affirmed that “Russian-Moroccan cooperation is multifaceted and mutually beneficial. It is developing dynamically.”
Further explanations made by the Russian Foreign Ministry mentioned that “there are regional players” who are very disturbed by Moscow strengthening its relations with Rabat and other countries, which pushed them to use “any means, including disinformation, to harm these relations.”
