Morocco took part in the 2021 edition of the Stockholm Arab Film Festival, which was held from 22 to 25 October.

Moroccan cinema was represented by Maryam Touzani’s “Adam” and Asmae El Moudir’s documentary “Fi Zaouiyati Oummi”.
The latter won the Grand Prize at Toronto’s International Women’s Film Festival and Nuoro’s (Italy) Real Film Festival Grand Prize.

Produced by Aljazeera Documentary Channel in 2020, this is Asmae El Moudir’s first documentary film that addresses issues such as emancipation, migration and the desire to belong to a community.

As for Maryam Touzani’s film “Adam”, it had been chosen by Morocco to compete in the preselection of the Oscars 2020, in the Best Foreign Film category.

Besides Morocco, this year’s edition of the Stockholm Arab Film Festival saw the participation of several Arab countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon.
