Morocco’s ministry of health has launched a national awareness campaign on the importance of early detection of breast and cervical cancer, under the theme “early detection, protection for life and peace of mind.”
The campaign is set to launch on Monday and will take place until November 25.
According to a statement from the ministry of health, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of these cancers, in addition to highlighting the ministry’s efforts in this regard.
Accordingly, a nationwide communication campaign will be launched, with the aim of educating the general population and women in the targeted age groups about the importance of detecting breast and cervical cancers.
The ministry also aims to take a set of measures to facilitate access to early detection services, diagnosis and treatment, while highlighting preventive measures.
Breast and cervical cancers remain the most prevalent cancers in women in Morocco, with breast cancers representing 36 percent of all female cancers, followed by cervical tumors at 11.2 percent, according to data from the cancer registry.
