The National Association of Private Education Teachers in Morocco is the latest to join an array of voices criticizing the government’s recent decision to impose the vaccine pass to enter public and private spaces.
According to the association, this decision is “a dangerous step that will destabilize hundreds of families working in the private sector.”
“We are with health safety for all, students, parents and all school partners, but not at the expense of the livelihoods of teachers and professors in the private sector,” the association said, calling for a dialogue with the ministry as soon as possible.
The association stressed that the decision to impose the vaccine pass rejects the circumvention of public freedoms and the gains Morocco has made in human rights, under the pretext of a health emergency.
Members of the association called for the Ministry of National Education to abolish the decision, in regards to the nature of educational work, and the serious social consequences that will threaten social peace.
The association stressed its rejection of this “unconstitutional” decision, which is not based on “any human rights or legal reference.”
