Morocco’s hopes to move on to the futsal world cup semi-finals were thwarted after Brazil defeated the Atlas Lions 1-0 on Sunday.

The Brazilian team dominated the first half of the game, pushing Morocco to maintain a strong defense. Until a free-kick from Brazil’s Rodrigo turned the tide in the South Americans’ favor.

Although the Moroccan team played more determinedly during the second half of the game, they lacked quality shots to beat Brazilian goalkeeper Guitta.

Brazil is the first team to move on to the semi-finals, after captain Rodrigo scored the match’s only goal, securing the South American team’s ticket in the semis.

Morocco’s national futsal team was unbeaten prior to this game, making history by qualifying for the world cup for the first time in the country’s history.
