Moroccan Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali will be a part of the final of the Diamond League in Zurich, on Thursday, September 9, starting at 7 p.m.
During this final, El Bakkali will compete against Mohammed Tindouft, Lamecha Girma, Getnet Wale, and Benjamin Kigen.
The Moroccan Olympic champion of the men’s 3,000m steeplechase aims to win the Diamond League title after snatching the gold medal at the Olympic games of Tokyo 2020.
The Moroccan runner also aims to make an end to the domination of East African runners over this distance which has lasted since 1984.
Recently, Soufiane El Bakkali fell heavily during the Paris Meeting of Diamond League, twisting in pain and injuring his right thigh.
The runner shared a photo of himself running on his Instagram account, saying “after the fall, one must rise and accept the worst things that will push us to become much stronger.”
