Leader of Democratic Forces Front says 2011 constitution needs democratic implementation
Saturday 4 September 2021 - 10:49

Mustapha Benali, Secretary General of the Democratic Forces Front, said the Justice and Development Party government has failed to translate the 2011 constitution into reality throughout the 10 years of its government.

He said the PJD has “taken several measures that contributed to crushing the middle class,” adding that whoever leads the next government would need to “give an unfaltering start to the democratic interpretation of the 2011 constitution and to put an end to the legislative absurdity that we experienced between 2011 and 2021.”

Benali, who was a guest of Hespress’s Road to the Elections on Friday evening said Morocco needs a stronger left to put forward the needs of marginalized groups.
“Being the left is to defend the rights of deprived groups in terms of political, economic, social, cultural and environmental terms,” adding that “whoever supports the oppressed groups is a leftist.”

Touching on the Covid-19 pandemic, Benali said that the nation capitalized on the pedantic to transform itself into a rising regional power, by getting its populations vaccinated while ensuring a smooth reopening of the economy.

He stated that Morocco is “in a state of war because of the pandemic.” He continued, “We are at war. Therefore, orders must be obeyed, and therefore I do not support entering into a scientific discussion about the effectiveness of the vaccine and its collateral damage,” noting that “walking at a rapid pace in the direction of generalizing vaccination will achieve collective immunity, and this is the way out to confront all possible developments of the pandemic.”
