Morocco reported 4 661 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising the number of cases recorded in the country since the beginning of the outbreak to 810 949.

The country continues to record high daily deaths as the ministry of health reported 115 new fatalities on Sunday.

Morocco is betting on its national vaccination campaign to curb the recent rise of infections. The ministry of health reported 17 288 054 people who received their first COVID-19 vaccine shot as of Saturday and 12 911 722 who were fully inoculated.

The Kingdom received 950,000 new doses of the Pfizer vaccine Saturday morning, the latest shipment of a total of 1.8 million doses the country is set to receive. An initial shipment of 700,000 doses was received last week.

Morocco also received an additional 1 million doses of the Sinoparhm vaccine on Saturday.

The country is set to extend its vaccination push to include teens aged 12 to 17 starting August 23 in a bid to achieve mass immunization against the coronavirus.
