Morocco has revoked 1,490 licenses linked to its legal cannabis industry over regulatory violations, as the 2026 harvest progresses and authorities seek to strengthen the recognition of Moroccan cannabis products in European markets.

The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities withdrew nearly 1,300 licenses from cannabis growers and 190 from other operators across the supply chain, according to figures released on the sector’s development.

The revoked licenses cover activities including seed imports, processing, manufacturing, marketing, exports and transportation. The agency cited noncompliance with applicable procedures and regulations.

Of the 190 licenses withdrawn from other operators, 60 concerned seed imports, 45 processing and manufacturing, 35 marketing, 31 exports, 12 seed exports and seven transportation.

The enforcement measures come as the 2026 cannabis harvest advances across Morocco’s three regulated provinces.

Farmers have harvested 1,100 hectares planted with the country’s local cannabis variety, known as beldia, representing 60% of the total area cultivated with the variety.

Taounate province is nearing the end of its harvest, with 92% of its local cannabis crop collected, according to the agency’s figures.

Around 1,800 farmers affiliated with 154 cooperatives are involved in the harvested areas, as Morocco continues to regulate cannabis cultivation and related activities under its legal framework.

Harvesting of imported cannabis varieties began in October and is expected to continue through December 2026, reflecting differences in the growing cycles of the varieties.

Meanwhile, the agency has secured international protection for the logo identifying Moroccan cannabis products in Luxembourg and Portugal. Similar notifications are expected from Germany, Spain and other European countries.

The logo is intended to verify the origin of Moroccan cannabis products and distinguish them from competing products in foreign markets. The agency says the protection will help strengthen the credibility of Moroccan products among international partners.
