The friendly match between Spain’s FC Barcelona and Morocco’s Ittihad Tanger, scheduled for Aug. 15 in Tangier, has been canceled.

According to sources familiar with the matter cited by Hesport, the cancellation was due to delays by Barcelona in finalizing the organizational arrangements required for the match.

The sources stressed that the decision was unrelated to the recent events in Ceuta, rejecting speculation that the border crisis played any role in the cancellation. Instead, they said the Spanish club had not completed the necessary logistical and organizational preparations in time.

Neither Barcelona nor the event organizers have issued an official statement confirming the cancellation or announcing a new date for the friendly.

Meanwhile, Spanish media reported that Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is expected to meet with club officials to discuss scheduling an alternative preseason friendly as part of the team’s preparations for the start of the La Liga season.
