Former Arab League secretary-general Amr Moussa did not describe Morocco as a threat to neighbouring countries, his media adviser told Hespress, rejecting remarks circulated by several Algerian outlets as fabricated.
“These statements are completely invented and have nothing to do with him,” Ahmed Kamel said.
Kamel added that Moussa held “great respect” for Morocco and King Mohammed VI and would not normally speak in such terms about another Arab country.
He said the same claim had circulated previously and had already been denied by Moussa’s office.
The adviser also warned against websites that manufacture statements intended to create tensions between Arab states and societies.
The denial follows controversy surrounding US President Donald Trump’s announcement that Morocco’s Tiznit-Dakhla expressway would bear his name.
Moussa served as Arab League secretary-general from 2001 to 2011 and was previously Egypt’s foreign minister.
