Morocco is expected to experience hot to locally very hot weather across much of the country on Friday, with temperatures remaining particularly high in the eastern region, the Moulouya Valley, Saiss, the plains west of the Atlas Mountains, Souss, Chiadma, the southeast and the southern provinces, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

The weather agency said morning and overnight fog patches are likely to develop along the southern Atlantic coast, while the Atlas Mountains may see partly cloudy skies at times.

Moderate to locally strong winds are forecast ovDGMer the Atlas Mountains, the eastern region, the central plains, Atlantic coastal areas and the southern provinces. The winds could trigger localized dust storms in exposed areas, potentially reducing visibility.

Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 25°C and 30°C in the eastern region, the Moulouya Valley, the Mediterranean coast, the southeast, Souss and eastern and southern parts of the Sahara provinces. Overnight lows will be cooler in the Atlas Mountains, where temperatures are forecast between 12°C and 18°C, while the rest of the country will record minimums ranging from 19°C to 24°C.

Daytime temperatures are expected to edge down slightly in the southern provinces but remain stable or rise elsewhere across the kingdom.

At sea, conditions will be calm to slightly rough in the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar, slightly rough north of Safi, and slightly rough to rough along the remainder of Morocco’s Atlantic coastline, the DGM said.

The latest forecast follows a series of heatwaves that have affected Morocco in recent weeks, with meteorologists continuing to advise residents in the hottest regions to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated as temperatures remain above seasonal averages in several parts of the country.
