France captain Kylian Mbappé said his team is prepared for a tough challenge against Morocco in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following Les Bleus’ 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the Round of 16.
Mbappé, who scored the winning goal from the penalty spot, said France expected a difficult contest against Paraguay and was pleased with the way the team responded.
“We knew the match would be difficult,” he said after the game. “We put in a good performance that showed our character and our ability to compete in hard-fought matches, not just play attacking football.”
The France captain added that while some people view his team as one that relies solely on attractive football, Les Bleus have developed a winning mentality regardless of the circumstances.
Mbappé said every national team has its own style of play, but stressed that the most important objective is securing victory as France prepares to face Morocco for a place in the World Cup semifinals.
“We are aware of Morocco’s quality,” Mbappé said, adding that “we will give everything to win.”
